Ivertec Introduces Anseo Secondary Biometric Edition

14th May 2009

After extensive research and development Ivertec has recently introduced a Fingerprint biometric edition of our Anseo Secondary product. This edition combines all the benefits of the base product with the additional security of fingerprint recognition.
Fingerprint recognition closes the loophole of swapping cards or id numbers (buddy punching) for one student to register on behalf of another.

Biometric School Attendance

Anseo Secondary Biometric Edition comes with two modes of operation; one mode requires student ID cards while the other mode allows the system to operate without ID cards

STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARDS

Students register their attendance using an ID card and then they verify their identity with their fingerprint. This is the most efficient and reliable method for registering students.

NO CARDS REQUIRED

Students register their attendance using a PIN number rather than an ID card. They then verify their identity with their fingerprint.

Data Protection for Schools

Data protection issues have been raised about the storage of personal information such as fingerprints. We ahve consuted with the Data Protection Commissioner to ensure that all procedures and policies are in place in order to comply with leglislation.

The system does not store fingerprint images but a digitally encrypted code. Only a part of the fingerprint is sampled and this is digitally encrypted. Therefore it cannot be used for any purpose outside the attendance system

The school is required to inform parents of the use and purpose of such a system.

Each parent has the option to opt out of having their child’s fingerprint being recorded. The child’s attendance can then be recorded with an ID card only.
